Time Warp is a techno pilgrimage like no other. With over 15 hours of ear-blasting drum beats across six immense dancing spaces: Time Warp is heaven’s answer to electronic music.

Having spanned across the globe, bringing its techno concept to the likes of New York, Amsterdam, São Paulo and Milan, the Mannheim-born festival circuit is as international as they come.

Artists such as Richie Hawtin, Laurent Garnier, Sven Väth, Solomun, Marco Carola and more, have all been a part of the Time Warp story.

The Mannheim mega-festival celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2019, making it one of the longest-standing dance music events in the world.

Sadly 2020 was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Luckily, though, through the power of social media, we have snippets in time captured online for us to look back at and enjoy until the next one.

From 2019 to 2011, here are 9 years of online Time Warp moments.

Solomun

  • ARTE Concert – 2019

In 2019, Solomun was on fire. As a Spring prelude to another upcoming Pacha Sunday residency, the Ibiza deep house king took the Time Warp morning mantle as night slowly began to creep back into day. You can only imagine the kind of 6am scenes when the big man is in this kind of flow.

Nina Kraviz

  • ARTE Concert – 2019

Nina Kraviz is one of the first names you expect on the line-up. Her psytrance-acid-techno blend has shaped a unique and energising style, mirroring her unrelenting performance energy. In 2018, it was all that and more.

Adam Beyer

  • ARTE Concert – 2017

2017 belonged to Drumcode. With sold-out international takeovers and label releases being played across the world, Adam Beyer flew the DC Records flag high and mighty during a spectacular early-morning floor one set.

Carl Cox

  • BE-AT.TV – 2016

When Carl Cox steps-up to the Time Warp podium, you know he’s ready to flex his heavier techno muscles. With his final Space Ibiza residency happening in the upcoming summer, the dance music hero had plenty of April ammunition loaded-up for this explosive hour, before joining Joseph Capriati for an extended back-to-back just after.

Pan-Pot

  • BE-AT.TV – 2015

Pan-Pot delivered their hard, fast, progressive and pumping style of techno to the Mannheim thousands. From Dave C to Cirez D, the Berlin-based dance music duo moved through plenty of ear-drumming, heart-pumping, shoe-destroying goodness.

Tale Of Us

  • BE-AT.TV – 2014

In 2014, Afterlife Records was only a concept at this point. Tale Of Us, however, were already supplying those hypnotic basslines and devastating crescendos. In this takeover, the Italian melodic duo took Time Warp above and beyond.

Marco Carola

  • DanceTelevison – 2013

Marco Carola has been a techno and house favourite for longer than some can remember. The Music On don stripped it back in 2013, bringing together groovy basslines and minimal drum beats to form an early Marco Carola set with substance.

Dubfire

  • DanceTelevision – 2012

Dishing-out the deep beats, Dubfire delivered on all expectation, living-up to the technical reputation he’s built, both on his own and during his earlier Deep Dish years. Glitchy, trippy, funky: Dubfire brought his A-Game to Time Warp’s main pavilion.

Butch

  • DanceTelevision – 2011

Butch was back in 2011 providing slick, funk-filled rhythms to Time Warp’s House Floor area of the festival. Although we can only enjoy half-an-hour of action here, it’s definitely enough to give that Friday feeling, no matter what day you listen.

Time Warp will return in style. Until then, there’s plenty more Mannheim mayhem to enjoy on the web. What’s your favourite set?
